When playing blackjack online, there are certain decisions that you can make based upon the cards you are dealt that will improve your chances of winning slightly and also minimise your chances of losing heavily.
Also, it is worth bearing in mind that whilst blackjack tables in live casinos do not shuffle the decks, leading to the possibility of making better educated guesses of what cards are more likely to be dealt further along the session, online the decks are shuffled after each game. This effectively cancels out this slight advantage a player has in a live casino.
Avoid playing to mimic the dealer as this is a bad strategy. Hitting on 16 and standing on 17, never doubling or splitting pairs results in an inflated house edge of approximately 5.5%
Never assume the dealer always has a 10 in the hole and hit to try and score more than the up card plus 10 as this will result in you unnecessarily busting more often.
When an insurance bet is offered, it should always be declined as this is one of the worst bets you can make in blackjack. This is because the house edge is a whopping 7.47% on an 8 deck shoe.
