Keno

How to Play Keno / Rules

Keno Game infoSee our top ten online casinos list

The basic rules of keno are very simple to learn and equally simple to apply. First decide how much you wish to bet. Choose between one to ten numbers from the displayed range of numbers between one and eighty on the board. Some online casinos provide a random number picker option that will pick a set of numbers for you. Next, the game will draw 20 random numbers from that same range. If any one of your chosen “picks” matches one that the game randomly drew, it is known as a “catch.” The more catches you have, the more you will win.

The game will automatically calculate your winnings, display your catches and pay you at the end of every game so you don’t have to concern yourself with working out the payout schedule yourself.

When selecting your numbers, simply click on the number you want to include in the next draw. If you change your mind and want to change a number, you can simply select the number you want to change a second time and it will cancel. Then you can choose any other number you wish.

The big difference between keno and standard lottery games is that in keno you are not restricted to choosing a fixed quantity of numbers, or picks. You may select between three and ten picks in total, with different payout odds depending upon the total number of catches to the number of picks you made.

Once you have chosen your numbers, you then need to decide how much you wish to wager on the game. Amounts vary between online casinos, but they are usually between $1 and $5 per game, although some casinos have smaller bets such as 25c or even as little as one cent bets which are great for playing large multiples of games, although you won’t win very much that way.

You can also choose to play multiple games with the same numbers to save you having to pick new numbers for each game. The set numbers of multiple games you can play are usually five or ten. If you want to play more games using the same numbers, you can click on the “Repeat Bet” button.

Payouts for catches vary according to the number of picks you make. The fewer selections you make means that payouts are better with lower numbers of catches. The trade-off with this strategy is that the best payouts for matching the maximum picks are also relatively low.

The chances of making sufficient catches to win also varies with the number of picks, although by selecting higher numbers of picks, the minimum catches required to be paid out also rises, making it more difficult to win, but winnings are much higher.

Losing bets are collected and winnings are credited to your account automatically after each game, so there is very little you need to actually do.
